... Hotel about 15 Min walk from the strip.
The pictures looked good but the price seemed too low. Anyway we arrived at
15.00 and booked in, the room was lovely and of course Michelle wasted no time
to jump in the bath and soak for the next hour. The free shuttle took us up to
the Venetian one of the top hotels on the strip and from there we wandered
around till our legs where aching. What a pleasure to sleep in a king size bed
for a change and walk down and ...

... Merietta CA at a mall and hit up the Barnes and Noble and food court and let the boys be out of the hot car for a bit. Once we were back on the road we passed an Air Reserve Base where C5's were landing and taking off consistently. Pretty cool to witness. So.. We can just do the unlimited wholesale bit for $2000 sign up etc. Said "No". Got voucher for Jersey Boys 6.30 tomorrow night. They were supposed to ...

Our Brenda said turn right...

After a short time I stopped and reset it... but by now the traffic was building to a fine rush hour standstill, and the temperature in the car rose to 132 degrees.

That was nothing compared to the triple "F" I let out when we were already lost, and as far as I was concerned going in the wrong direction, and we had a major navigational issue.

... Amboy. Bypassing Amboy now seems like a pretty good idea. But I have no choice, so I go through what is left of it, and then turn northeast toward Essex, which is just a few miles south of I-40. At one time, Essex was notable along Route 66 for providing free water to travelers, thanks to a well installed by the Automobile Club of Southern California. Today, Essex has a population of less than 100, and is on the verge of becoming a ghost ...
