We loaded most of the food, clothes, etc. into the RV Friday, so there wasn't much prep to do (for me anyway) today. Before leaving the Lake Tahoe's region we make a two hours hike in the mountains at Squaw Valley, the location of the 1960's winter Olympics. The group departed Davis early hoping to beat the heat on a 65 mile journey into the foothills of the Sierra Mountains. Memorial Day festivities made for crowded travel on the 30 miles of the American River bike trail but the mild weather and shade from the old oak trees made the ride comfortable. Beyond Folsom the heat and road traffic picked up and made the rising highway grades more of a challenge.
