Today is Dad's birthday, so we were up early and ready to rejoin the Hop-on, hop-off bus from yesterday. This time we would venture further out, towards the beaches.

We did the same start of the loop as yesterday before we transferred bus lines, which wasn't so bad, because the commentary was dropping in and out yesterday, so we got to hear things we had missed.

We made our way by bus down to Santa Monica, a beachside town. At first, it looked like ...

We stopped for a small lunch at a surfers shack on Route 1 where we had fresh battered shrimps for lunch & lots of cold coke, just what we needed. We ...

... Shane was most excited about this as this is where his favourite movie is shot - American History X. We walked up to Muscle Beach, taking in all the different people and smells (mainly weed lol). Hoping there would be more muscles working out, there was only 2 guys posing for money. They were huge! We realised we were hungry so grabbed some food. Corn dog and chips! I got this awesome lime lemonade slushy drink! We headed towards the basketball courts used in ...

... This happened when I was new to CA in 1975, fresh from Michigan State University, and in my second semester of ceramics. My El Camino College night school instructor gave us the same speech that he said on the first day of class in the first semester.”

“Do not become attached to anything you create,” Mr. Thomas roars. “Accidents happen. A pot may explode in the kiln and destroy ...
