We left around 10 am and started the drive...even before the pass it was so beautiful with views of mountains, lakes, and all different coloured leaves on the trees. A lot of trees have started to lose their leaves so probably was much more colourful a few weeks ago.

Our meander continued as we followed a series of scenic byways that took past several of Colorado's "fourteeners," the mountains that climb above 14,000-feet. Jack had prepared a travel binder filled with essential travel information: Best Campgrounds of Colorado, Scenic Byways (25!), Festivals and Special Events, and Wineries.

The most useful section was Scenic Byways and, as we have meandered around The Centennial State, we have ...

... We saw others heading up there, including a small motorhome, and we also wish them luck.

After our adventure it was unanimously decided to have a drink at the afore-mentioned Jerome Hotel in The J Bar. We sat in a window of the elegant but understated J Bar where we could watch skiers decend Aspen Mountain, if there were snow on the slopes. (Maybe tomorrow.)
