We were pretty pleased to be leaving Provincetown for a bigger city with hopefully some life. We spent the next morning driving from Cape Cod to Providence RI. The only thing I knew about Rhodes Island is that they had the super nice chick who won Miss America in the Miss Congeniality movie. Now I know they also have Brown University and a great Laundromat! We had a crapload of laundry and were seriously low on underwear so the laundry was priority number one! One of the first things you discover about Rhode Island is that the Ocean State is not an island, but USA's smallest state!
Covering a mere 3,140 square kilometres, it is only 60 kilometres wide and 77 kilometres long, with a population of just over a million people!

... soon realised there were no ill feelings about the Cup!

In no time at all we had booked two trips - one to view the famous Newport mansions, and later in the day a sunset cruise out into the Atlantic!





We enjoyed the guided Newport Trolley Tour that took us along the famous ten mile Ocean Drive, and past the many beautiful "Gilded Era" Mansions located on Bellevue Ave.
