Midday temperature: 15C

We still had some mountains to climb but we left the cold behind us and drove along the Okanagan Valley. Surprisingly, the leaves are still on the trees, and there is still a lot of green. It looks like they are having summer here. Although at one point we saw frost on a field and billows of smoke. We were confused at first but then we realized that we were in an area with hot springs. Another reminder of our travels in New Zealand.

... and are good cooks so we have had nice meals and there is always plenty of food. I've had to get used to the bugs, snakes, spiders, frogs and apparently someone has seen a small brown bear out there too! Even in the heat I can't leave my door open at night. I startled a snake sitting on the back porch yesterday and today I checked my shoes for spiders and found a baby frog! The drop dunny is also hard to get used to, but as long as there are no snakes on the toilet I will cope!
