We left Black Lake today and headed toward Vermont. We didn't make it.
We did, however, drive through the Adirondacks and somehow managed to drive into the bike portion of an Ironman race. No, I mean we drove into it! Imagine how those guys on bikes felt after swimming for 2.4 miles, then trying to ride their bikes for 112 miles, only ...

... mark that's been there for approximately 60 years.. A sweet girl car hop came out and greeted us and took our order. We sat at the picnic tables out doors and enjoyed this special hot dog treat. A hot dog smothered in chilli flavoured finely minced beef. You must eat 2 of these little doggies to fully enjoy the experience!

We then decided that we'd drive to Lake Placid, roughly and hour ...

Can't believe we're camping on the shores of Lake Champlain!!! We've had incredible experiences in this area of New York. This state continues to keep us on our toes!! We had an amazing hike through the Ausable Chasm where the river was rushing through a canyon of steep walls with incredible force (especially after several big storms the days before our visit.
Then yesterday we took a drive into the Adirondack mountains & rode our first gondola up the slope ...

    Day 5

The Adirondack Forest is huge! It took roughly three hours to get to our campground after entering the Adirondack area and we only made it about half way into the forest. We entered from the south and the Lake Placid region is toward the middle. We drove past a lot of small towns with a few houses here or there, mostly with large front porches and beautifully wooded yards on small creeks. I found it interesting that so many home owners have posted ...

... working well together it was quite fast. We brought the watercraft back one by one and attached them to the dock. No motors! There had never been a motor on the lake and I remember the year a float plane landed on it by mistake (they were looking for Cranberry Lake). It caused great commotion, but it was finally decided that since the plane’s motor did not touch the water, there still technically had not been a motor on the lake. I didn’t care, ...
