    ... from NYC. Perfect meeting point after a 534 mile drive.It is located in the far north east of the Adirondacks and we entered from the south west. It was slow going on back roads for a few hours but the views of the various lakes and mountain ranges were stunning.

    We arrived exhausted around 9 pm, had a couple of glasses of wine and hit the hay as we all knew that we had a long weekend ahead of us.

    ... the first "state park" established in 1892. It has a different feel since over 60%25 of the land is privately owned and a different design of signs which take getting used to by us who are more familiar with National parks and state parks. We don't see much public access to beaches. Mostly resorts and private homes and cabins along the shores of various lakes.

    Got an early start to head for Lake Placid. Going through Customs only took five minutes.


    The highway was the same scene, more corn fields. We got onto Rt. 3 and it was not my favorite. It was very hilly, curvy, and the rain started.     ... around a corner and have a huge motorhome in their face! They hadn't even gotten to the 26.2 mile run yet. I can only imagine what they were worried would come at them during THAT portion of the race!

    We had a relaxed morning and then dropped into a historic spot to try a local legendary taste delight for lunch. Anyone who knows Wayne knows he is a hot dog nut. We just had to go and try a Michigan Hot Dog. I had never heard of this but it's legendary in this area.
