... of walk bag off and headed to popular cafe Vudu for a morning coffee. They do great coffees in this town, a standard coffee is 2 shots in a longer glass so good strength and good length, just the way I like it. We recognised some fellow like minded walkers doing the same thing, getting a decent caffeine fix before heading off.

... in water so clear. Back on the boat, we made our way further out along the fiord where we got to see seals, albatross and little blue penguins whilst the sun started to set.

... slide. The vegetation, although re-generated, was still quite low offering us some wonderful vistas. We went on to Hidden Lake and Perrie Lake which had the most incredible reflections, and stopped for lunch. Cold sausage sandwich from a couple of days ago, tasted fantastic!! We got our first glimpse of Mackinnon pass which looked awfully high! We passed a couple of shelters, useful when it rains and floods! ... farms all over , we finally got on the bus for another 90 minute ride to the trail head arriving at 2:00 pm.

We finally got to the first hut around 5:30 to claim the last 2 bunks. Facilities are great with flush toilets, gas cook tops and running water. The next day we hiked to the high point and then went up to the hill beside it. The views were truly stunning. We spent most of the ...
