We left for Milford Sound at 8:00 am. It was pretty clear in Te Anau but cloudy ahead. We stopped at the Eglington Valley Viewpoint at 8:45 and fog was settled at the base of the mountains in the distance. Our next stop was at Mirror Lake just a few minutes later. Te Anau is a lovely town , what hits you is that is it is by the 2nd largest lake in NZ by surface area but the largest lake in Volume in Australasia !! It has rain forest on one side and flat land on the other. What we can't get used to is that our lakes at home are full of boats , overflowing with boats but the lakes we've seen in South Island there ...

... for the three hour journey through to Doubtful Sound and out to the Tasman Sea. Between us we took over 120 photographs, you will be pleased to learn that I have only included a few. We returned by the same route and were delivered back to our Campsite at 6:15 pm. We have an early start tomorrow to get up to Queenstown. We are booked onto the TSS Earnslaw for a cruise and BBQ late ...

... along the way for geocaching and admiring the scenery. Sights included a
30m high waterfall, blue pools where the water was so clear that you
can see the fish swimming. It actually took us almost 6 hours to drive the 141km between Haas and Wanaka. At one of those stops, we met a man from Gainesville , Florida who loves to go surfing
in Flagler Beach and Matanza of all places.... can you imagine meeting
someone in this far away place spending their winter ...
