We Leave New Zealand today after 7 weeks
Planning a Trip to New Zealand
For us the best time to go was for the months of Feb. & March, however I'm sure that the spring time mThis year 2011 we were told that Dec./Jan. were very wet.
Because tramping/trekking/hiking or hill walking (call it what you like) is high on our agenda its best to avoid the peak season.

Back to NZ and balmy 12 degree welcome!
When we arrived in Christchurch we were informed it was a balmy 12 degrees. Eek, nothing like the 36-40 degrees we were leaving behind! we had many security checks upon arrival, including pulling apart our hand luggage and explaining the contents of oor bags.One thing that came up as a concern, was an x-ray of Richs bag...a tin of baked Beans!

A Week On The South Island

We hopped in the van and drove to the Fox Glacier guide center where we layered up even more and joined our guide for the hike.
