... later we have a fantastically working vehicle that was ready to take on the snowy.

... a tour de France rider, an English soccer fan, an Englishman, a gypsy and a Greek goddess. Mick came as the Pope and I thought I’d make a spice girl appearance. The Middle East were represented by Clayton & Brett, while Duncan came as a Somali pirate and Kate bore some African jewellery. Reg came as a location-unspecified monk and a couple of guys decided they too were ‘Aussie backpackers’ - Kieran, Johnno, Nick and ...
Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, Australia thebarretts... then lunch on the banks of the legendary Murrumbidgee, which is quite a large river meandering through the plains.
Marcus and I camped at the back of the peleton for a lot of the ride - because it was Sunday there wasn't much traffic, so we let the pack slip away from us for about 100 metres, and then we would have a sprint race back up to it!
Good fun, until about 40kms away from Leeton, when Mark ...

Driving through Shepparton, kids loved seeing all of the colourful cows they were painted as Spiderman, Shrek, footy teams, fairies, dragons and heaps more (oh, they were statues not real cows). We stocked up at the SPC factory on our tinned fruit and will be eating tin fruit our entire holiday I reckon.
First night was at Narrandera Top Tourist at a supposed to be a 4star (lucky if it was a 2), but it did the trick, sleep & food.
... Wales. If I get really lucky, timewise, I may try to get to the south end of the Coorong. The Coorong is a 150 mile uninterrupted sandbar.... It is completely undeveloped. -- First Entry Now things get into the true realm of guesswork. I will pick up my rental car and head south through New South Wales. I make stop at Eden before I venture into Victoria.
Balranald, New South Wales, Australia ejl0207Today we zapped down to Darlington Point about 30km south of here to have a look at the old lift bridge. After having read about it and deciding to go, I found the fine print indicated that it was no longer a bridge over the Murrumbidgee, but the entrance to the caravan park. We went anyway. Today is a bit of a sad day as it would have been Dad's 93rd birthday, so had a bit of a cry when the date sank in (can't usually ...
Darlington Point, Australia newtripper... in a beautiful old white building with lovely lacey iron work all around it. After lunch we hunted and finally found the old railway bridge - one of 12 made in England and shipped out here in the 1800s - Ted had seen an identical one at Bathurst he says. The hunt involved some dubious looking muddy tracks and some 4wd. The line which used this bridge across the Murrumbidgee had now been closed, so I guess it will just rust away. Certainly ...
Leeton, Australia newtripper... couple arrive and handle their van less expertly than us - it had not occurred to us that this would be possible. So far, they have moved 3 times, and now, even in a drive through site, he appears to be parked diagonally across 2 sites !! He certainly did not attend the Clynton school of reversing!! Have had lunch now, and done 2 batches of washing - one in the dryer and the other on the line - wind is great for drying, but the in ...
Narandera, Australia newtripperAfter a very brief stop in Melbourne, visiting Linda and Pete, we caught the train to Junee - a small country town in the niddle of NSW - home of a train station, liquorice factory, Monte Christo (a great old homestead claiming to be the second most haunted house in Australia, and home to the parents of Laurence ...
Junee, Australia seetheworldHMMMN> Today was our first and last day of fruit picking - thought we would go for the world's shortest ever careers in fruit picking! All in all it pretty much sucked - **** conditions, **** pay so we decided one day was enough! Booked straight on to a greyhound and tomorrow we will be in the sunny city of Melbourne where we will resume our desperate search for employment (any ideas or donations greatfully recieved)!!! We will keep you posted!
