We arrived this evening and checked into our really nice hotel. We then went back out to see if the visitor center was still open. It wasn't, so we went to check out a lighthouse, an old furnace at the Hiawatha National Forest, and a small town called Christmas. The pictured rocks are sandstone cliffs that are being eroded away by the wind and waves of Lake Superior. What makes them different is the huge mineral deposits that make them “bleed” different colors. Everything from rust to bright turquoise is present. ... The scenery is beautiful! There are tons of pine trees and every now an then you will get a view of a huge wetland or Lake Michigan.
Last night it rained all night and it is still drizzling this morning. We are going to go to Seney National Wildlife Refuge and then making our way to a campground near Porcupine Mountain State Park.

... Wes got a good coffee - he has to ask for a double shot Americano. I had a milk shake made with caramel explosion icecream - more like a thick shake and had little cups of caramel filled chocolates. Thank goodness it was made with 2% milk !!!!
Went for a drive to Christmas which is just a little spot on the highway with a few shops that did not look at all appealing.
Found the ruins of the Bay Furnace where they used to smelt iron.
