... people not to do that very thing. Oops! There are great views of downtown Auckland, all the other volcanoes in the city and the bigger ones further off in the distance from the summit. It is certainly worth the climb.
At first I wanted to go to One Tree Hill because I was drawn by its name but as it turns out, there is no longer a tree at the top of the hill. Instead, there is a very high obelisk which was built in the 1948. The tree ...
... br>After Climb Zone it was a quick visit back 'home' before heading off for pizza at a new restaurant down the road. It was so lovely that Larissa, Maureen, Alan and James made such an effort for Dan's birthday, as obviously we were the least organised on the birthday front that we have ever been. It was so very much appreciated. Pizza went down very well, and then was followed by icecream at a little shop down the ...

I'm here! I’m really here at my friends Andrea and Bret’s house. It is SO good to see them. 18 months ago I said I’d come and visit them when they were settled in New Zealand and I have kept my word.
We had a load of rain last night but I finally worked out if I stuffed a tea towel up under the window catch things on the back door I don’t get dripped on in the night. It’s only taken me 4 nights to figure this out! I got ...
... on the cruise. Afterwords we had lunch at a little cafe along the main street and skipped dinner again. We got in a little shopping there and headed back to the hotel. After the sunset we just relaxed and enjoyed NZ weather.
The next day was spent with early morning shopping (Brian's fav) and a 3 hour drive back to Auckland with stops along the way again. We first stopped by some really famous public bathrooms ...
... of day walking into the forest with no build up to meeting the tree or hearing the legend behind it, it was a very different experience and made me more thankful for my twilight encounter.
For most of us it was the end of our New Zealand adventure, others are staying on to try and get work. We spent our second last night out with people that we had met on the last leg of our magic bus tour. It was a really nice way to end the country as we had met some really nice ...

Pray for us...our flight is on a small and not well-known airline (Air Asia)! April 20 - England! First, I'll visit Rachel and then off to Cornwall for PJ's wedding and visiting everyone! May 14 - Ten flights later I'm back to Denver and to real life. P.S. Happy Birthday Mom!!!
Auckland, North Island, New Zealand jasi... a valuable insight into the history of New Zealand, it's also an absolute must for school children to visit, it's so so interesting, there's something for everyone. After a stroll around the gardens we set off for Parnell & Newmarket, which we were told were really good for shopping for presents and locally produced goods, well that proved to be debatable but one thing they certainly were was expensive. I found an unusual fruit bowl which was a ...
Auckland, North Island, New Zealand easygeeze... my ability to walk a straight line was severely compromised on that return trip. Having now secured both shelter and food, I moved on to communication. Upon checking in, the nice man at the desk had said, "No problem, come back and get the password for the internet". Went downstairs. Internet is $10. Now, I was sure it was included with our rental, but he disagrees, and the only way for me to check is to call up my e-mail on the internet. See the problem? Go back ...
Auckland, North Island, New Zealand mshulist... in the distance all around us. The tower’s other main attraction was the sections of glass flooring offering a slightly unnerving view of the streets below directly under your feet. People would go to extraordinary lengths to avoid walking along them, and one little kid running around the deck had unwittingly made it onto the middle of one before stopping in his tracks, looking down and completely panicking.
