... exhibits, including an extensive Maori collection. We spent several hours there. Then we walked along the waterfront and through Civic Square. The Capital E building is there, a children’s educational and entertainment centre. We saw the famous Beehive, the executive office building, and the Parliamentary Building and the Parliamentary Library. Then we had a late lunch at the oldest pub in New Zealand. The Thistle Inn was the second public house to get ...

... over me and throwing heavy objects towards others, mainly me. Thursday Fiona took Ian to his swimming lesson while me and snot ridden Ashleigh went grocery shopping and chilling on the park. Lost count how many times i had to put her on that bloody slide but looked like she was having fun.
It's been baking overload here for the ram selling day but the house smells scrumptious! Poor zoe is being pestered by all the working dogs, who are ...

First Stopover

497km
After a gruelling 3 hours on the Ferry trying to stay upwind of the cows, travelling in the luxury of their stand up crates, it was a pleasure to finally arrive at Brian and Dianne's place in Feilding for a couple of wines with the 'rellies' and a very welcome meal. The usual stories emerged amid much hilarity until Yvonne and John left and we settled down to a short nights sleep before another early start.

Where Tiger's Fly - The Next Dream

When AfricAndy was in Kenya and Tanzania, April 2007, the mozzies didn't bite. He hardly saw any. But the travel bug bit his bum hard! With an itch to scratch he had an irresitible glimpse of Bhutan in National Geographic. The Last Shangrila. Land of Thunder Dragon's where Tigers fly and Gross National Happiness trumps Gross ...

Heading North

... see the crew strapping a volunteer onto a backboard and affixing a neck brace and other emergency equipment. I have another glass of Sauvignon Blanc. It's lovely. We pass a pair of lighthouses heading into Wellington on the North Island. Upon docking at Wellington, we seamlessly grabbed a replacement Avis car-a Holden Commodore-and set out. We didn't find anything to our liking until we made it all the way to Palmerston North, much farther than we had intended to travel. We had ...

Catching Up With Friends in Palmerston North

... whole life! KT: It was really good to cathc up with Katie and Rhys from my school Worksop College (just by luck kt's mum and dad were over from the UK too). It was a real treat relaxing over dinner with drinks, lovely food (had pavlova for desert - traditional NZ desert - gorgeous), and catching up on all their news. Katie's children entertained us most of the night and it was ...

A long weekend in Palmerston North

... Amy's cob loaf. It's hard to explain what it is so here's an example - http://www.food.org.au/recipe-cob-loaf- dip/. Apparently you can experiment with the ingredients but Amy's had onion, cheese and bacon I think! It tasted fab! There was wine to match every course as well, but I only had a couple of glasses as I'd picked up a sore throat on Thursday night so was mainly drinking orange juice! It was a very ...

In a little town called National Park

... to see amazing views of crates, lakes and of course mount Doom. It is a seriosly long walk which we were hating our guide that morning as we dropped us off at the exit (this would mean walking a 1km incline in stead of 0.5km) to walk to the start, effectively doing it the wrong way round. The bonus being we had much of the walk to ourselves (start and finish), walked down the devil stairs case as oppposed to up. However we did have the ...
