We all slept the second we got in, pretty much. we slept until 5pm. I had a shower and then we went out to find some dinner. Not much to choose from around here, so the kids had MC donalds and we got Indian.
Came back for baths, chill out and bed again at 3am...It will take us a while to get used to NZ time. Our friends in Bali will be up and about! Big wave to you all!
... a little English shop which has proper tasting things like: Marmite, HP sauce etc, we also hope it might have proper Cadbury’s chocolate and not the horrible stuff they have here! Whilst looking for somewhere for dinner we stumble upon an English pub called the Fox and Ferret! It has enlish beers, English newspapers and by the sounds of all the accents half of the UK too! We’ve been away for 4 weeks but it honestly feels like much longer!

Once on land, all three of the girls had to change their clothes before we drove 5 hours back to Queenstown. We had to drive back through the avalanche area again, which was a bit scarier this time, because the weather was rainy. After making it through the danger zone, we switched drivers and made way towards our destination. We again played silly card ...
... spirit. Each batch is about six litres and "The six monkeys", as they refer to themselves, get one litre each from which all variety of liqueurs can be derived and the fore shots can be used to fuel the stoves for tramping! They take care to have bits of the apparatus each so that no one gets too fond of the grog (at about a quid a bottle this is also seriously cheap).
Christchurch, South Island, New Zealand hadwinFlew into Christchurch on Thursday afternoon. Took a tour of the city, which is so gorgeous compared to Auckland! Its very old fashioned and they even have a tram still running. Its known as the garden city so there is a beautiful river that flows through the heart of the city. You can even go punting down it, where you sit in a little wooden boat and the man stands at the end with a giant stick, and pushes you along the ...
Christchurch, South Island, New Zealand maewalshWe had breakfast in Hobart and then then took the bus to the airport. We arrived to find our flight delayed by two hours, but eventually we took off and landed safely, 3 hours later, in Christchurch. A very cute little sniffer dog sat down next to my bag (uh oh!), and so I had my lovely paper flower lantern from Laos confiscated (you can't take plant material into New Zealand) for the whole time we are here. I paid $15 to have it put into storage until I can ...

Washerwoman led the charge across the busy wagon road, oblivious to all the traffic busily swerving around her. SquawJenny renamed her - acknowledging her royalty bloodline. Henceforth, she is to be known as "Mary, Queen of Shops". The menfolk departed in the covered wagons to find safe lodging for the night. We forged ahead to the ...
Highways of New Zealand's South Island, South Island, New Zealand harleynut... drawers and shelves of my little room. On the right, there is a laundry room (free laundry, woot!), the little covey next to it is always full of drying wool sweaters. Then the bathroom (one shower and one toilet for 6 people!). The toilet is in a stall and the shower room is just behind it. There is a curious 6 inch gap near the window that unfortunately connects the shower to the toilet stall, sometimes making it impossible to forget that while you ...
Christchurch, South Island, New Zealand leevilporkchop... were sampling the 9 different wines. When they were finished, we climbed back on the bus and began our trip back through the grazing lands towards Christchurch. We arrived back at the Heritage Hotel at about 5:45 or 6:00 pm. It was still raining, so I purchased a small, inexpensive travel umbrella at a tourist shop and went for a walk around Christchurch while it was still light. The area around the hotel included a square with a Cathedral, lots ...
