... oooo it's the wet season up there', which we didn't really fully understand. What's so bad about the wet season, after having no rain the whole way up the east coast until Cairns, surely a bit of water is a good thing? The feel of Darwin is indescribable, it's really a 'you have to feel it to believe it' kind of thing. The driver of the shuttle bus told a woman at the front with two young kids all the good spots to go in Darwin, so myself and ...

That night I could barely keep my eyes ...

The water was pretty chilly but so refreshing, especially under the two falls. There were some pretty big fish in there which I didn't mind until one nipped my toe then decided to get out incase they got braver and started biting harder.
In the morning we went for a swim before breakfast then headed down to Burley waterhole. It wasn't ...

Feeling the heat

A travel blog entry by tudyfrudy on Sep 27, 2014

... Scorched earth, scorched trees with only a little bit of canopy left, where in my opinion could be a tropical rain forest. Sometimes even the leaves are brown and dead and any young tree around a meter high has not survived at all. The earth is bare. Some new growth has started but only a certain type of plants. It looks depressing, an over the top measure to prevent out of hand bush fires. Do you need to use "controlled" burning to prevent fires that might start by lightning? ...
