... Bear Centre. After seeing so many bears in the wild and basically ******** myself about them and the danger they present, it was good to learn some more facts about these seemingly misunderstood creatures.

Apparently only the grizzly is aggressive with the other types being more scared of us than we are of them....though in Yellowstone we were sighting grizzlies so this news didn't really provide me ...

      Minneapolis to Ely

A travel blog entry by k-rod on Aug 17, 2014

      Summary

Drove 246 miles in 5 hours.

      Highlights

Awoke to a dreary, cold and rainy day, weather that I think is more typical here than the previous two hot sunny days. We were strapped in for a long drive anyway so luckily for us it didn't really matter.

Our usual picnic lunch en route was foiled as we were too cold to eat outside of the car, so had to make do ...

Turns out once we got going it was manageable. The first day we canoed three times with portages over land three times. This involved carrying all the gear including canoes. Fortunately they were high tech Kevlar once making ...

We caught TONS of giant smallmouth bass! The weather was decent, except for a couple of super windy days. We managed to avoid any bears or scary wildlife...just lots of chipmunks! As usual, the scenery was great. There's just something so cool about nature that's virtually untouched by man.

      The great outdoors!

If you haven't been to northern Minnesota before, I suggest you add it to your list of places to go. On our latest outdoor adventure, my boyfriend Jason and I ventured to the north woods and made a stay at Minnesota's nicest and most scenic state park, Bear Head State Park. When most people think of state park camping, they might imagine a bunch of young 20 somethings all hopped up on who knows what, drinking whatever they can ...
