    ... to let them bicker and not let it ruin our trip. We passed Mammoth National park but time would not allow us to stop. The hills were beautiful as we entered North Carolina! That would be our 6th state so far! We drove through tunnels through the mountains that had signs to take our sunglasses off, ok, we did. We stopped at the welcome center for North Carolina and saw the Hells Angel biker gang South Carolina ...

    ... they were trading shifts but i think they were just to lazy to come to their rescue. They were in a hot metal elevator burning up until someone came and pried them out. I would never go to this hotel again. We told them to give us more than fifty dollars but they refused.

    Today was a very relaxed day. Due to the weather and Connor's injury from the day prior, we decided to leave today to relax. The day started of with a delicious treat.     ... Phan on a hair-raising, twisty motorcycle ride on the Cherohala Skyway, considered one of the best touring roads in America.

    After a couple of hours, we split up - Will an I took all 4 kids to the Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest for a hike while Phan and Thao took the motorcycle to conquer the Tail of the Dragon, the legendary motorcycle route featuring over 318 bends in 11 miles. They had a blast, spending almost 2 hours flying around on the sports bike! ...

    After we were done, they took our findings to identify them. I appreciated that they sorted each type of stone into different small ziplocks and labelled them. Much more fun for us.

    Then, we continued with the gem theme stopping at the Gem Museum in Franklin. Housed in an old jail, it offered a guided tour with free admission and gave all kids 3 polished stones each for free.
