... floods and devastation. A lot has happened while we've been away but we have been proud of the way our state has rebounded and are moving forward.

We're excited to be getting home tomorrow. We’ve been very fortunate through all our travels and have enjoyed sharing our adventures with our friends and family. We’re glad I wrote the blog because it’s already hard to remember some of the names of places we’ve been!

Then, I hopped back across and finished up the trail at the base of High Falls. It was still another thirty minutes or so before the dam would open, so I took the time to walk around on the rocks at the base of the falls that would soon be completely underwater. There were a couple of cairns right at the base of ...

          August 18th – day 106

There were a few museums and things in
and near Greensboro we could have visited but when I said the word
Museum, everyone under 16 groaned. I think they have been in plenty
of museums the last few weeks and are temporarily museumed out. So we
drove onto to Marion NC. This one did have very small signs which
said No Overnight camping so we weren't sure if we would get moved on
          or not. ...

It was also overdue it next service so I decided I would get some oil and at least give it an oil change, Bob had a spare oil filter that he let me use. So after the service it got its well needed clean. ...

... guide, Monica, falling out of the
raft. The over all experience was great even with the freezing cold
water. Lots of paddling later, we ended up taking a break on some of
the coolest rocks around the river. The rocks were perfect for
jumping, and Jeff knew right were too go. Jeff obviously has been
doing this for a while, and this was evident when he walked across
the river to help another raft, which had gotten stuck on some nearby
rocks. The trip was great ...
