Night 28: Deep Colorado From Mesa Verde NP to Gunnison, CO Today we made 260 miles in a generally L shaped route, as the mountains dictated. Weather was good. Mostly sunny with one tiny little sprinkle for a few seconds. Temps varied slightly along the route but never passed the low 80's. Today we explored the beautiful southwest corner of Colorado in no hurry. We began our day in Mesa Verde NP having been left unmolested by the cinnamon colored bear. (See yesterday's post.) ...

We spent the first half of today in Gunnison getting supplies, and Kirsty got a new back wheel. I finally got my forgotten items that I was too embarrassed to admit in the beginning- spare tubes. First day riding with my new cycling buddies. Kirsty is actually a lot faster than she let on. She's been on her trip for about 6 weeks already. Chris carries almost all of her gear and all of her water, so her bike is super light compared to ours. She had never biked before this trip, so she's getting strong as she goes- like me! We had to wait 30 minutes at a road construction stop. They wanted us to ride in front of ...

End of trail turned into a fast red dirt track which was a nice change from 4 hiurs in first gear. Found the tomichibtrading post amd had beer, met some hikers drom arizona and stayed in a ...

... plowing tools and three old fashioned trucks. I'd say 1940's. You know the kind with curvy fronts, colors muted red or blue and those wooden crate backs. I've always liked those kinda trucks. I wonder if that's the town of Sargents. Josh, the one I thought was the cute young bartender, turns out he owns the place, the gas station, store, restaurant, bar and campground...I wonder if he owns the town too? This is a ...
