... flight back. This was equally as impressive as the first flight and finished our tour off really well. We were so tired we decided to stay at Franz Joseph that night, and head off early the next day. Before we did that we headed to the town's hot pools, as this was included in the price of our glacier tour, and soaked in the hot water for the evening. ... Lake Mapouika just after we entered the Glacier Country of Franz Josef. The lake reflected the surrounding landscape perfectly in its water, we walked down to the opening and took our shoes and socks off and walked along the wooden jetty which was under water due to the rainfall (it wasn't the greatest idea as the water was freezing but it was awesome out there). ... not a bad place to have another quick ‘sample’. From Marlborough we drove south to Kaikoura, seeing Fur Seals along the coastal road. The Kaikoura coastline is famous for its whale, dolphin and albatross spotting, but as we we’re counting the pennies we opted out of a whale-watching cruise saving funds for our upcoming trips to the Franz Josef Glacier, and further still onto Queenstown.
