    ... Shanghai. We ate skewers of lamb and squid on a top floor patio overlooking the city, and we talked about potential project ideas our two clubs could collaborate on. According to President Frank Yih, that night was the biggest party in the history of the Rotary Club of Shanghai. Not only was it their annual summer BBQ, but that day, notification was given that two more Rotary clubs were being started in China to go with the two that already exist (Shanghai and Beijing).

    ... road we had lost the whole group. I didn't have my glasses so the person I was following in the distance was not Sharon after all but a sheikh who was also dressed in white. A quick peruse of the scene made us realise that we had lost everyone and there were no buses or tourists to be seen. We headed back and eventually found our group sitting in this bus waiting for us. Must remember to take my glasses next time! Last night in Shanghai and then it is homeward ...

    We woke up and went to a Chinese small restaurant specialized in dumplings. They were out of this world. There is technique to eat then. You have to make a little hole in the wrap and drink the liquid first. This is accomplished by picking the dumpling with the chop sticks and making sure that it doesn't drip, make a hole suck the juice and proceed to eat them by either putting the whole thing in your mouth or holding ...

    With over 18 million people in Shanghai from the 22 million people in Beijing that we just came from, it seemed like we were simply trading one big city in for another. It was going to be interesting to find out how the two cities were different.

    ... but this didn't seem to fit the bill - however, we were a bit tight on time anyway and wanted to get seeing the sights so politely declined. Yet they became more and more insistent and it turned out the museum we were heading to was in the same direction as they were headed for tea so they walked with us for a few minutes.
