Hope March is coming in like a lamb for all of you storm battered Maritimers! There are definite signs of spring here in Dongguan: many more birds chirping, new flowers in bloom, a big dead bug on our balcony and the big frogs are croaking in the gardens.

We started back to school on Wednesday so it was a short week. Funny, after you're back to work for a couple of days, your trip seems so long ago! Boracay was a beautiful tropical destination with lots ...

We have good WIFI in our room, but, as we learned, Facebook and anything Google is blocked in most of China. Also, Safari does not work. This is close to the most tired I've ever been, but we have finally made it to Guangzhou and are currently sitting in a decidedly random restaurant along Beijing Road, which is largely a massive pedestrian shopping street. After we got to the airport, immigration and baggage claim were relatively easy - once we were outside and away from the multilingual safety of the airport, things got predictably more ...

... our tickets, so we could show that we would be leaving on Saturday. I went to the currency exchange and got 1,132 yuan for 200 dollars US. We were planning to just get a taxi from the airport, but when we stepped out of the airport we saw some airport express buses. An agent directed us to the right one. It cost us 21 yuan each, or about 4 dollars each for the 40-kilometre ride into the city. We weren't sure which ...
