... went over to one of the big malls to get some food when we got back and that was completely locked up. Thank goodness for Wal-Mart which was open! Things are back to normal this weekend.

Some of the students aren’t back yet. Boy, some of these kids are well travelled. I have students who were in Korea, Malaysia, Taiwan, and one who is due back Monday from Canada! I also have a girl who went to Brazil for Christmas and just came back on Friday. ...

We have good WIFI in our room, but, as we learned, Facebook and anything Google is blocked in most of China. Also, Safari does not work. Natalie and I were able to buy a Chinese browser app, so we could use the internet, but Don wasn't able to because his phone is an android. We had the rice cakes and peanut butter that we had brought with us for breakfast and were out of the hotel just after 9:00 am. The streets ...

... about 20 minutes through a city we don't know with all our luggage. Needless to say I was becoming progressively more light-headed. That being said, it was incredibly cool to finally see a part of China, and the area near our hotel is totally decked out in Lunar New Year decorations. I hope I will be able to appreciate them all the more tomorrow after I've had a chance to get a proper sleep. Time for some ...

... our tickets, so we could show that we would be leaving on Saturday. I went to the currency exchange and got 1,132 yuan for 200 dollars US. We were planning to just get a taxi from the airport, but when we stepped out of the airport we saw some airport express buses. An agent directed us to the right one. It cost us 21 yuan each, or about 4 dollars each for the 40-kilometre ride into the city. We weren't sure which ...
