After the first descent, we called it a night as we were expected to be up even earlier than usual to tour the Three Gorges Dam itself via a park constructed for tourists and viewing. The Dam has been in operation since 2003, built at a cost of approximately 60 billion dollars; it is a source of electricity as well as making the ...

We joined the boat for our cruise down the Yangtzy at 9pm after being collected by a Chinese bus which then wound it's way to the ferry terminal collecting people on the way. I just organized a few things...got dressed and packed for a day at the national park. ... story she said oh, very resourceful you asked someone if you could stalk them. Hehehe its all very hilarious when I think about it now..... Hounglong turned out to be amazing. There were breath-taking views of the fall leaves surrounding colorful ponds. We walked a lot but it was beautiful and even though the day started out gloomy and gray it turned sunny and the sky was a bright blue. Things started really looking up! I wasn't even that tired anymore. However, the night wasn't ...

... was quite fast flowing - chocolate brown. At the moment it is only backed up by the dam to 155 meters above sea level (max is 175) so it is still a river at Chongqing at the moment and not part of the lake formed by the 3 gorges dam. There is freight and passenger traffic on it but not as much as I expected. It is almost the end of where the river is able to be navigated though so expect more traffic further down where boats will be coming and ...
