... Royal Southern Albatross tour at 5pm so made our way to the Otago Peninsula. By this time it was blowing a gale but we were told that this was "perfect weather" for Albatross viewings as they love a strong wind. With a 3m wingspan they are not hard to miss! The centre on the peninsula is the only one of two land nesting site in the world. Other birds nesting on the peninsula were shags and red eye gulls. From a viewing centre we could see ...

... from outside the bigger cities. We started to head north and came across Port Chalmers, a charming little port town with lots of character. From here we could see the peninsular so we decided that that should be our next stop so back around the Otago Harbour we went. Surely horse racing doesn't start that early though, does it? Guess we'll find ...

We woke up this morning to the sounds of football and boys cheering it on. I hate football. We couldn't be rude and knew the guy was coming back whose bedroom we were staying in so we got up and got ready. We didn't feel too hungover which was surprising but I think we had slept well. Luckily it hadn't been as cold as we thought it might have been. We got out and watched some of the match with these random people. Oh we were trying not to laugh, this one American guy ...

... from walking through the botanic garden, up on Queens drive, passing the Speights brewery with a stop in it (who would have done different?!).
Also we had lunch right in the middle of town on the roadside of a 3 lane road at the railway station. People did offer us some really weird looks. But, hey, we've just been hungry, so food had to be cooked! (yummy salt, pepper, butter pasta)

      For the night we ...
