... driving around. It was pretty neat though. Not sure what the draw if for scuba divers, as it is only 81 feet (27 fathoms) deep, unless the divers explore the underwater rivers that feed the hole. I am assuming they must, as the two men working at the travel center told me 4 divers have died there.

... 25 miles the road is preserved as it was save for a few small stretches as the concrete rolls along crossing fields and woods on the way to Hyrdo, Oklahoma. Part of the way along this stretch I took a side trip along 1920s dirt road to see the last remains of a suspension bridge that carried the original Route 66 into Bridgeport. ... got a room for the night. We walk to the (only) nearby steak roadhouse as I wanted to have a drink, only to find that it was alcohol free. With our steaks ordered we sat and listen to the old lady playing the organ and singing old country songs, and watching the locals in their large Stetsons roll in. We enjoyed our dinner and the included small serve of peach cobbler, and as we left the waitress said "See Y'all" in her pure Texus ...
