Park and then follows the Fraser River and Colorado River into Glenwood Springs.  It was definitely worth the trip.  It takes about 5 1/2 hour by train and is a 2 1/2 hour drive via I-70 to get to Glenwood Springs.  It wasn't about being in Glenwood, it was about the trip there and back.  Absolutely beautiful trip. ... down ultimately missing the podium and finishing 4th. The very pro-American crowd went crazy as their favourite son, Ted Ligety, skied the perfect second leg to take the win. You have to say that Ligety owns this hill when it comes to Giant Slalom as it was his 5th successive win here on the World Cup circuit. ... We hiked up and up and up and stopped a lot to take photos which was really an excuse to catch our breath. We all did really good and were feeling pretty fit and spent a lot of time encouraging others to complete the hike.

We made it to the top and as always Hanging Lake and Spouting Rock were awesome. The water is so clear and the underwater formations almost take on an essence of a coral garden. We met a fun couple that were on their Honeymoon ...

... showed better weather on the west side. Dropping down into Vail the road was dry and sky mostly cloudy. No precipitation the rest of the way. We stopped for a quick dinner break, and arrived at Glenwood Springs around 8:30. We were all very thankful because you never know what to expect when crossing the Rockies.
