A little bit confusing that the hotel untill recently was a Holiday Inn Express, so the GPS couldn't find the Best Western. Besides that the hotel looked like it was recently renovated, so the room was very nice and clean. The hotel could have had a better location, but you get what you pay for. The breakfast was standard, but remember to come early since there is not many seats causing some kind of traffic jam for breakfast.

We loved our stay here!!
We stayed here for two nights in October and will stay there on future visits. It's a nice little hotel that was clean and comfortable. The location was great.
When booking, beware!
I booked a guaranteed (charged me for the full amount of the room upon booking) non-smoking room at this hotel through the corporate web site. My flight came into LAX during the later part of the evening and we arrived at the hotel about 11pm. We were checked in and upon entering the room, we discovered it was a smoking room!! We are allergic to smoke so we came back down to the front desk and to let them know that there was some mistake and we'd like our non-smoking room that we reserved. They said no. I showed them the printed email confirmation showing my reservation. They admitted that they didn't have any more non-smoking rooms available and offered to "Walk" us to another one of their chains. We agreed except none of the other chains had availability except way back at the airport. I wasn't about to drive all the way back from where I came from on the account of the hotel's mistake. They told us we were out of luck and our only option was to call another local hotel with availability (a chain not associated with Holiday Inn) and pay out of our pockets for it. It was nearing midnight and it seemed like the only option at the time, so we did.
I ended up calling corporate to find out how these things could happen and I was kind of annoyed that I had to pay MUCH more for a hotel because of the last minute change that wasn't my fault. I had a guaranteed room and I didn't get what I was promised.
Corporate informed me that there is a state law in California that if a guest wants to stay an additional night that the hotel has to let them, even if they don't have availability and it bumps someone else with a reservation. However, that person with a reservation that gets bumped (otherwise known as "walked") isn't "out of luck" like I was told by the Marina Del Rey Holiday Inn Express manager. When they "walk" someone, they are supposed to pay for the guest's room somewhere else.
I faxed my receipt for the night's stay elsewhere and they sent me a full refund for the amount I paid. Kudos to corporate Holiday Inn but BOOH to Holiday Inn Express in Marina Del Rey for their attitude and bad service! Know your rights before booking!!!
We (me, husband, kids ages 10 & 5) stayed several places during our week in So. Cal., and stayed here for just one night, June 30, our last night, so we'd be near Venice Beach, and LAX for last minute shopping and easy rental car return. The rate looked good, and reviews mostly good. We knew we'd be late and had the room held. Got in around 11:30 pm, and were a little nervous, since the area nearby looked far from upscale. As we pulled into the parking garage, there was thankfully one spot left. We hauled in lots of luggage and sleeping kids and found the room to be a nice surprise. Nothing too fancy, but clean, large enough, comfortable beds and pillows. The next morning the kids swam. The pool was small, all 3 ft deep, with adjacent hot tub, but we had it to ourselves, and it was clean and sunny. They even had free continental breakfast, and the staff was friendly. For the price and the convenient location, and as long as you're not looking for a large hotel, it was well worth it! They seem to cater to business travelers, and I can see why. We were not disappointed.
The Price is Right
We used our Encore card and got the room for 75.00 a night. Great location...we went to Disney, Universal Studios, Venice Beach and Hollywood from there. The service was great....brought us in a roll a way bed for no charge. Good breakfest. Nothing fancy but comfortable, clean and the pool/jacuzzi was a nice touch after walking all day. Free parking also a bonus.
Great service, great value
Really unusual design, but very well laid out. Undercover groundfloor car park was a great touch, as was suddenly appearing in the open air on the way to your room on the second floor.
Our room was at the front of the hotel and sleep wasn't a problem. (It is on a fairly major road, though.) Good size and comfortable, all the usual features you'd expect, and complimentary breakfast is entirely edible.
The reception staff gave this a real "family" feel (an achievement for any chain hotel), were full of local advice and really friendly.
It's in a great location for Venice beach and the marina, also it's only ten minutes from LAX which is very useful.
Adequate, but get a rear room
We stayed here as somewhere just to get a night's sleep after getting in from the UK.
Clean, and reasonable value, but it's a sort of 2 storey semi-motel that sits right on a busy street.
Make sure you ask for a rear-facing room - we had to ask to change from the front room we were put in because of the traffic noise.
Excellent value and great service
We stayed 6 nights at this hotel and were very satisfied. We arrived in LA and went to our pre-booked hotel which turned out to be awful, so awful that we checked out the next day and moved to the Holiday Inn Express. The staff on reception were excellent, the rooms (we were in a suite) are spacious, clean and comfortable. The position of the hotel is ideal, close to Venice Beach and a good base for exploring the rest of LA. Excellent value!!!
This place is OK
We stayed at this hotel recently and found it to be fine. Its a bit of a hike to Venice beach but you can take the bus for 75 cents. There are good restaurants as you get close to Venice Beach. There is an excellent Mexican take out restaurant with great prices. Best Mexican I have had in years. Shuttle to the airport is $17.00 but you have to pay the hotel $4.00 (whats with that). Cant go too far wrong with this place for a couple of nights.
Great Hotel, Great Value
I used to stay here when I worked in Santa Monica. It's conveniently located in the area. The value is great, the rooms are great. The breakfast is OK. It's only a few blocks from the beach, yet a few blocks from the major blvds. I noticed a lot of Europeans in the breakfast room, and I applaud them for their taste in accomodations.
You can't go wrong with this hotel. Even the parking is convenient.
Good value choice
This hotel definitely has a more European feel than most hotels I've come across. It has a nice, but small pool and hot tub. The rooms are normal Holiday Inn.
It's about a 15 minute walk from the beach and about 5-10 minutes to Marina Del Ray. I'd definitely recommend this if you are on a tight budget and are looking for a good place to stay.

Manuwai and I took a tour of Beverly Hills and homes of the stars. We went chasing stars. Some of the homes were very grand and others normal. I was surprised at how green the area looked with lots of mature trees and many beautifully manicured gardens. We did see teams of gardeners often on their knees face in a hedge. It would be a nice suburb to live in.The guide seemed to indicate that even the smaller houses would be at least ...
... cheap flight with Southwest we'd return the car in Burbank and fly out. There are two added benefits of this; one is that we avoid the chaos that is LAX, and the other is that Burbank airport is only 10 minutes away from what must be one of the best breakfast places in LA - Bea Bea's. So on our way to the airport we do a quick stop for another great breakfast.

And to finish Tanya had provided a traditional Mexican game which involved Tony being blindfolded while trying to knock down a very colourful chandelier full of sweets. A brave Clonmel man Richard Power withstood the onslaught and held the chandelier aloft with the aid of a brush while Tony did his best to knock him into the pond! Great fun! There was a very big Irish contingent amongst Tony’s guests that night and to ...
... Diego. Ocean Beach was first, which is a haven for hippy surfer dudes and tourists. Walking along the beach, we saw people wiping out on a wave, people dominating a wave and some people doing some impressive amateur gymnastics on their beach towels - we were thoroughly entertained. There were also a few herbal remedies shops dotted in between huge souvenir shops and places to get a huge slice of pizza for $2. Carrying on along the coast line, we passed through Pacific ...
