I traveled to Ningbo on Monday evening after the English Subject Panel had finished.

I met Will at breakfast in the Citic Hotel on Tuesday morning and we went out to Ningbo Foreign Language School, which is one of my centres. The school is built in an amazing location in the south-east of Ningbo, surrounded by mountains and with a beautiful lake on site.

The staff here are all lovely. I had only been to this centre once before with Liz and Mary ...

Travelled from Amsterdam to Hongkong on Cathay Pacific airlines. After a 4 hour stop over, boarded a Dragon air plane to Ningbo. This was a shorter 1:55 hour flight. The local driver was waiting in his Chinese VW car. We drove for 1 hour to the Ferry station. Then caught the ferry to Zhoushan Island. The trip car and passenger ferry took 30 minutes. After leaving the ferry, 20 mins later we arrive at the Jinwangjiao Hotel. ...

Eventually, we arrived at the Bund only to find a very nice-looking yet closed collection of restaurants and bars. We were hungry, and praise be to the mermaid goddess, we found a Starbucks. It was the only open place that sold some sort of food. We had coffee, scones, and laughed as we realized the chocolate covered espresso beans I'd bought cost 35 kuai. Sam ...

We left early on Wednesday morning to head for Zhoushan Island (舟山岛). Before heading to the hotel, we went to Mount Putuo (普陀山). Mount Putuo is considered to be the home of Guanyin (a form of Buddha) and is one of the four sacred mountains in Chinese Buddhism. We were able to walk around and see ...
