    ... them, great to look back on all the places we've been. The next day we went birding at the local wetlands and went to the Brunch Box food-van for lunch, awesome burgers! Wish we could've stayed longer but a lot if California to see before we have to be in Nevada, definitely catch up with these guys ...

    ... is finally opened—not officially but it is workable and usable. They were going out to dinner. I fixed my dinner and am waiting for time to go to the parade. It is nice out, no sweaters today but will wear sweater and jacket tonight. The streets are crowded! No place to sit so had to stand-for almost 3 hours! Aching back!! But it was fun and glad I went. Hope I can make it to the Rose Parade next Saturday-starts around noon. I am tired tonight and on my way to bed.

    We pick up Belinda, and start driving out of Portland. Mount Hood is about 90 minutes away, and all three kids fall asleep on the way there. The drive is nice, and we are fortunate to have a really beautiful day to be out driving! Before long, it is looming up over the horizon, and it is impossible to miss!     ... were very welcoming. Most wore badges and patches on their coats and all looked as though they had distinguished careers. We liked the chap who took us on a tour of a B17. Now widowed after being married for 62 years, he was now living with a 'lady friend'. As for the plane, it was fascinating to see how cramped and cold the crew must have been.
