    Our drive from Lake Chelan took us through the Wenatchee Valley, the Apple Capital of the World. We drove along the Columbia River past miles of lush green orchards--apples, pears, cherries and apricots--that had been planted on the semi-arid flatlands and foothills along the river.     We arrived early afternoon it was a short drive. Randy greeted us with his usual good humor. Dee does not get off work until 5. He showed us around their place which is impressive.
