... of the scenic drive for another day and went off in search of a beach! We found the perfect little, quiet beach at Mission Bay where we sat for ages enjoying the last of the sunshine! Tonight we discovered that the Cheesecake Factory is also a restaurant so we treated ourselves to a lovely dinner, followed by cheesecake!! There menu for cheesecake flavours is 2 pages long!! ... nice to see old friends there. Next it was back to La Mesa for lunch at Souplantation. Now some may be thinking why Souplantation? Well, we don't have them in Minnesota. When I emailed to ask when they would open one there, they pretty much said never. So darn it, that's where we ate and it was wonderful. Plus, all the kids ate free! I finally let mum sit down today, all day in fact as we drove from San Francisco to San Diego, about 9 hours in the car. North of LA it was quite a nice drive, the highway being lined with trees bearing almonds, pistachios, and a whole host of fruit, and we even saw fields of cotton. ... turned out that all the girls were married to military men and that all the guys at the party were apart of a special forces military unit. Adam and I looked slightly out of place with all these big burly men but it was not a worry as we quickly joined conversation with all the friendly people at the party. I was super excited as there was the classic American red cups and they were playing beer pong. How much more classic America could I get???
