We thought it would have been a little easier to just find a hotel/motel on the way but the first 20 places I called were either way too expensive or already booked. It wasn’t until about 40 minutes past Santa Barbara (around 1:15am) that we found a cheap hotel in Lompoc, CA where we would sleep for a few hours before getting up to drive up the coast.

I am not a travel expert, nor am I particularly worldly. I like to think I am smart enough to make it around the globe in (relatively) one piece and I like to think that I am open minded enough to embrace any situation with a positive outlook, but ...

... laughs sharing stories about our families and work and trips! So glad we got together with them. And, Scott chose a great place where we had calamari, clams, pasta, and chicken! No, we only shared the calamari! The rest were individual entree orders! So, Fresno to LA was exciting in some not so desirable ways, ants, and desirable ways, Mart, Nancy, The Getty, Allison and Scott! Onto Encinitas and San Diego where we are right now!
