... to Santa Barbara so that we could drive the entire Pacific Coast Highway tomorrow ending up in San Francisco. We thought it would have been a little easier to just find a hotel/motel on the way but the first 20 places I called were either way too expensive or already booked. It wasn’t until about 40 minutes past Santa Barbara (around 1:15am) that we found a cheap hotel in Lompoc, CA where we would sleep for a few hours before getting up to drive up the coast.

It's hard to believe that we left Hilo over a week ago. After we went to Hilo our next stop was the island of Maui. We docked in the town of Kahului which is the only deep water port in Maui.it has a population of 20,000 and is not a tourist area. So we did the typical tourist thing- we went shopping.
