My friends describe me as
" idiot..." following my statement that I was going on this trip
The most amazing moment in my life so far
Crossing the finish line of the Soggy Bottom 100, to the cheering of my awesome mates, followed by a few beers around a campfire and crashing in my tent.
Firstly, this is an organised cycling/touring/race by an org called the Tour d'Afrique. This may take some of the glamour out of the effort... and I understand if you feel this way. However, be assured that this will still be the most incredible adventure, with a lot of added benefits like a large group of similarly crazy minded folk to do it with. And by no means are we travelling in luxury with gauranteed schedules and even making it to where we are going each is Africa. If you want to get a feel for the event, check out

I am using this trip to help raise funds for WaterAid - a charity that provides clean water sources for African villages that are locally sustainable. If you like the look of this charity (, and would like to support our efforts, please check out the donation site:

I will be updating my trip through this weblog when possible, and hope you all enjoy it. Happy Travels.
