About Flyingbat

My name is Martina Mc Auley. I have been traveling since 1996 and love it with my heart and soul, with all its "ups and downs". Writing travel blogs, is for me a way to put into words, my passion for traveling and to be able to convey that to my readers, so that they want to go there too. As a person, I'm determined, adventurous and creative. My ambition is to become a fulltime travel writer and photographer.

I have a huge passion for New Zealand and in November 2009, had an article published in The Holland Times newspaper about the Mana Maori Exhibition, which was held at the Volkenkunde Museum, Leiden. This article can be read in my 'Official Opening of the Mana Maori'  blog. My New Zealand blog was also accepted on the official New Zealand Tourism website in January 2010.

I have a huge interest in Irish music/dancing and play the concertina. Brought up in a musical family, I was the dancer in the group. So music, dance, art, theatre and culture still play a strong role in my life. Photography is also a skill that I'm developing. I love to capture scenes/moments that really show the power of nature. I blog about my travels abroad but I also have a blog about tourism items in Amsterdam: concerts, exhibitions, events that I've been to or I think will be interesting to go to.

I have set up a new website, which has my latest New Zealand 2012 trip on it. More fabulous photos of this stunningly beautiful country and exciting content to come.
