... and I handled our first major motorcycle emergency. We kept calm and took care of it and got back on the road - that's what you've gotta do. So far, so good with the new battery and voltage regulator.

By the time we got to North Conway, NH it was nearly 6 pm. We checked in at the Fox Ridge Resort and settled in, then Phil and I went to grab a bite to eat and get fuel for the next morning's ride to Maine.

... the way up, we started to notice small patches of snow and ice that remained on the ground. Being late April and actually fairly warm, we were a bit surprised but pleased at the novelty - to the extent that we took a photo of Nay holding a chunk of icy snow. This seemed pretty funny on our way back down, since by the top of the trail we were walking on thick snow and feeling grateful for the layers of clothing we’d worn. ... hotel desk person suggested Salty Seadog Brewing Co. It's obviously a local haunt and when we walked in everyone sitting at the bar stopped talking and looked at us. I couldn't hear Deliverance playing so I thought we were safe. After a 5 minute wait for our table our waiter blew us away with his service and attention. I had a Sea Dog beer and Sue had a cocktail called Ruby Red. It took me back to the 1950's when The Kingston Trio had a song called Ruby Red. I tried to ...
