My research into Africa had been to the extent of watching a few David Attenborough episodes on Africa on the flight over. He failed to mention Africa is freezing at night! It's as low as 2 degrees overnight and jumps to mid 20s in the day. Quite the contrast to Asia's 40 degree scorchers. No wonder we are sick AGAIN. I'm thankful Brother Chris …

After the delta we went to Chobe national park. In the morning we went on a boat ride on the main river that borders Botswana and Namibia. That was one of the best things I have ever done. We got so close to loads of elephants and they all crossed the river straight in front of the boat, about 2 meters away. All the little babies were swimming …

We had the opportunity to spend some time with two 18 month old sister cubs just outside Victoria Falls. ' Lion Encounter' is a not-for-profit organization working to reintroduce lions back into the National Parks of Africa where the lion has become extinct. Their main goal is to increase the overall population of lions in Africa.

Not even the trillion dollar notes offered by the touts outside the gates of the park could describe the fall of water to the 110m base of Victoria Falls. The volume of water tumbling over is amazing as too are the rainbows created by the fine mist rising. I can remember one of my first school 'projects' was on the Vic. Falls and since then I have …

The bush is beautiful in Botswana. We had a relatively quiet night drive to the camp but our morning drive included a secretary bird which was my first …

Best little camp in town

The camp site was centrally located in town and we were within walking distance of most things. Basic facilities but clean. Bar area and pool were nice. Food at the restaurant "In da Belly" was decent and good value. Definitely try the warthog!
