Lovely caravan park although very confusing set out. Bush setting, wildlife. Lovely clean amenities (altho if you must have shower curtains, why use white ones? A bit of bleach, people!)

The camp as very nice, with clean amenities. Very busy, had to have unpowered as no powered sites available. Dusty, but it was bush camping. $12.00/head forunpowered.

The park abounds in natural wildlife, has a range of accommodation styles (we were caravanning) , great bar and bistro, information centre, wellmarkedwalks and overall excellent facilities. The price at first seemed a little high compared to other parks but the experience was unique and well worth every cent!! We did the Arhway tour at $52 for two hours, our guide Bram was exceptional and his obvious love and passion for the country and its features helped make this an informative, unique and quite frankly almost overwhelming experience. The cost was the best value for money of the trip so far though it is hard to appreciate that till after the event. It was like stepping into another dimension somewhere between Tolkien's Middle Earth and The Land Time Forgot! Don't miss it ifyouhave a chance to got here!

Our home for the next two nights was Undara Lava Tubes Experience Caravan Park. We followed the Savannah Way from Ravenshoe until the turnoff to Undara after stopping at Mt Surprise for morning tea beside the highway.

After we had set up camp, the four of us headed out to Kalkani Crater where we did the 2.6k rim walk.

After Charters Towers we headed off to Undara Volcanic National Park to see the lave tubes that the Smiths had told us about. We did some great walks giving beautiful views over the volcanic plains and did a tour of lava tubes. They extend for something like 160km, the longest ones on the planet that have been formed by a single volcano, Undara volcano.

A very short trip to Undara and an easy set up as we weren't tired after a long drive. We walked a little around the park and checked out the Fettler's Iron Pot Bistro a fully licensed bistro. It is laid out beautifully with seating for probably 200 people. It is surrounded by old Railway carriages some of which have tables and chairs in them. …
