Last night Mark couldn't set the security alarm for the night. He went to check that all the doors were locked but still it would not set. This was the first time we'd had a problem but couldn't rectify it. Unbeknown to us we'd had intruders who must have climbed over the front gate and blocked the sensors using bins and bags of rubbish, before we had gone to bed. Luckily they could not get into the house so left empty handed. As we were leaving today all of our passports, money, ...

... t see any. Black rhino are aggressive and like seclusion in the dense bush. The Ithala elephants are reclusive and unused to visitors so are difficult to spot. We drove on bad roads, almost 4x4 level. Saw giraffe, impala and zebra and wildebeest. A bit disheartening as we seems to drive for hours without seeing much game. Back to chalet for lunch then out on the Ngubhu Loop. After the heavy rains we have had, ...

Only a couple of bird species were added to the list :- Southern Black Tit and Violet-backed Starling. Willow Warblers singing back at the chalet brought thoughts of England in May. The scenery ...

... noted at the roadside in spells of lighter rain, including Ann spotting a Blue Crane, for which we could not stop for so everyone could see, and a lot of very sad and wet looking Amur Falcons.

A stop was made for lunch and supplies at Vryheid. We saw an attempted snatch of a briefcase full of money from car at a petrol station. No one was hurt and no money lost as ...

Pouring with rain today unfortunately. Not cold just wet. Travelled to Ithala Game Reserve via Volksrust, Utrecht and Vryheid. Stopped in Vryheid to stock up on groceries and airtime for phones and wifi hotspot. Had lunch whilst we were there. Arrived at Ithala at about 2 ...
