... and caves. The scenery is spectacular, the best I had seen in Vietnam or my life, I can't imagine seeing anything more beautiful that this. This will forever be known as the time I took 260 photographs in three hours. Other than the man I spoke of earlier, every other local we came across was so lovely, incredibly kind and welcoming. Ninh Binh, like Phong Nha, isn't as touristy as the other destinations I had visited, so as soon as you venture ten minutes outside of ...

The scooter and truck had come to a standstill about 20 after the impact; the person mangled and twisted scooter under the truck and body in the same condition beside the road (I will spare you the details). He, like other southerners, is very unhappy about the current political system but, nevertheless, he has a great deal of ...

... flavour and I wasn't convinced. We took a walk around the crocodile enclosures, they really are evil looking things, beady eyes and gaping jaws. They are mainly bred for their skin which is made into bags etc and a male crocodile can fetch up to $800. We were dropped at the hotel and had the rest of the afternoon to ourselves. Unfortunately, Long Xuyen is a rather non-event but we went for a wander down to the river and then cooled off in the small outdoor swimming pool back at the ...

... stopped at the Reunification Palace that day (those pictures were in my last blog). This basically served as the central war headquarters.

They brought us to the Saigon post office, and to a beautiful church, the Saigon Notre Dame, both built in the late 1800's, and both beautiful examples of the influence of French architecture at that time . We visited a Chinese temple, and a wholesale market that can only be described as a human ant's nest (throngs of humanity, hurrying ...
