Jbel Toubkal, @ 3207 meters, (formerly Neltner) Marrakech, Morocco
From the fun flats of Marrakech...we made our way to the High Atlas mountains for well...mountains of magnificent hiking and views.
Jebel Toubkal stands at 4200m above sea level and at that is the highest most point in northern Africa and also a bit of a mission! We made it up the mighty mountain in a few days and did some sleeping, sun burning and Scrabble in there as well. An absolutely incredible adventure!
Back down and all set to embark on a road trip to Fez!

... After a stressful spell though the buzz of Marrakech makes me appreciate all we have experienced and everything us Westerners have even more. Morocco is more amazing than i remembered with its incredible colours, culture and continuous backdrop of distant mountain ranges.
Reality beckons as we are back by Chrimbo but for now we are losing ourselves in all sorts of surreal and out-standing cinema in the sunny but still cold capital...

Marrakech, Morocco antonkarin... but if you don’t care then African Trails will do just fine. In all honesty our truck doesn’t look nearly as nice as nice as others on the road but it has so much more personality and I don’t feel deprived of anything.
The Overlanding Experience
This is not your average air-conditioned tour, this is an overlanding tour. A tour implies a guide giving you direction and informing you on the sights and sounds of the areas you ...
... on the toilets since there were no toilet seats, but you can't be picky when it comes to these things. Well at least we would have hot showers for three days.
It really sucks to have such a weak stomach in Africa. I spent the better part of our first day in Marrakech worshiping the porcelain goddess, so I missed the first day in the city but felt well enough to go to the Marjane with Summer and Gavin where we loaded up on lunch supplies and had some incredibly delicious ...
... He shall give you the desires of your heart." SO good! God showed me through my time in Morocco that He asks surrender to Him and trust in His faithfulness, and that He will direct my path. A good friend of mine once said that trusting God is one of the most powerful things we can do in our lives in this world because it is our participation with God's will. Trusting Him doesn't mean He'll show me every part of His will for the rest of my life, but that trust is necessary for my ...
Marrakech, Morocco aspinmaster... to the next town as we were starving. We were headed into the mountains, and the weather got correspondingly cooler. The main mountain was supposed to be the second biggest in Africa outside of Kilimanjaro, although the veracity of that statement was up for grabs. The small little mountain town we stopped at to eat had some great scenery outside, but the cold had taken its effect and we decided to sit inside in something that resembled a ski lodge ...
Marrakech, Morocco mvenkat007... In Fez, we decided to stay in the Ville Nouvelle or newer part of the city (created by the French) instead of in the medina in Fez. We stayed at the Grand Hotel de Fes which was obviously grand at some point a long, long time ago. Everything in our bathroom (sink, tub, toilet, even the bidet) seemed to leak and we had a major flood whenever we tried to shower. After we changed rooms, we started to better appreciate the charm, character, and history of the hotel ...
Marrakech, Marrakech, Morocco humanetraveler... It's a bit of a nightmare. Firstly, the entire city is the same colour - an unfortunate late 80's peach covering every building as if by law. Very North African and very hideous. And then there's the layout - the windy, ridiculous maze of a medina, signs all in Arabic or not corresponding with my map, perfect for the locals who prey on lost tourists. Of my 3 days in Marrakech, I estimate that I have was lost for approximately 3 days. But being lost ...
