... and so we were able to have tea and a nice chat at base camp.

Still feeling good, we decided to go to Kala Pattar a 17000 ft + "Hill" and see Everest etc at sunset. A nice hike and we ended up being on the summit at sunset completely by ourselves to watch mother nature's presentation of "Everest: beyond the Limit." Hahaha. It was truly beautiful.

Hope all is well with everyone!
Bryan and Deb
Lukla, Nepal brydebsimonHello again from Nepal,
Well we have been at the climbing thing again. We climbed a smaller peak called Chhukhung Ri (5550 M / 18315 FT) yesterday on our own...it was non technical and today we climbed a peak called Nangkar Tshang which is around 5000 M. Both were very cold but a lot of fun. So our climbing days are pretty much over ...

Lukla, Nepal brydebsimonHello again everyone,
Well we truly have been in the middle of nowhere for the past couple weeks and only now have returned to some semblance of civilization. During our time out of touch we have been doing a bit of climbing. On the 29th we summited a peak called Mera Peak which is the highest possible in Nepal without a ...
Lukla, Nepal brydebsimonThis entry is brought to you by the number 1000. As in the number of words a picture is worth. As I spent the almost two weeks trekking in and around Sagarmatha National Park, staring up at humongous mountains and meeting amazing people, both Sherpas and other travelers, I began thinking to myself, how on earth am I going to recap all of the amazing things I have seen.

And so for a while I settled on just ...
Everest Region, Himalayan Region, Nepal agrossmaToday was a very long day. The difference in elevation between Namche and Lukla is not that high (600 meters) but it goes up and down and up and down and up and down and up again...
We found out even more information this morning about the avalanche that hit Base Camp. Actually a second avalanche hit and if I understood right (and if the information given to us is accurate) most tents at Camp 1 got wiped out and 7 people were injured. Who knows though if ...
Lukla, Nepal bfayolleBefore we started going down this morning we visited a nunnery next to the lodge. Deana is friend with a nun there and we spent some time with her asking questions. Pemba being the monkey he is climbed a tree with Martha's help in order to hang our last prayer flags.
The first part of the trail was going through a rhododendron forest and that's when George le chien decided to leave us and go back up the mountains. The rhododendrons ...
Namche, Nepal bfayolleWe started with an easy hike to Thukla along the moraine of the Khumbu glacier (4620 meters = 15158 feet). At Thukla there is one little house where lots of trekkers stop to take a break before starting the steep climb to the memorial area (steep is relative, it's steep compared to what we did the previous days). Deanna got some new Nepali sweets out and after almost an hour of drinking tea and eating cookies and sweets we started our climb. We needed that energy to ...
