    ... br> After Chemainus, we stopped at Parksville, just north of Nanaimo. We didn't stay here for long, we just pulled up at 1 of the beaches and had a quick walk. It was pretty chilly so we decided to push on. The drive from here was beautiful. We went through Port Alberni, where Kerri was born, then north form there.     ... but none were sighted. We dined outside at Matterson House on the main street. Nancy had their chicken specialty with an amazing raspberry cream sauce while Brianna and I had the pasta special - penne with shrimp and scallops. So many strange creatures, most of which are quite ugly and smelly, but still fascinating.     ... on World Cup. Canadian vineyards do produce some decent red wines but you can only buy alcohol from a liquor store which makes you feel like you are doing something illegal by crossing the threshold. A far cry from the experience of Oddbins. Whatever happened to the off licence?
