        ... won't even get fed to the dog and sockeye salmon has way more flavour. You can snorkel in the Campbell River and see hundreds of salmon migrating up the river. This I will do next time I come to Campbell River. On my return towards Nanaimo from Campbell River I spent my last night in Courtney (old mining town) just outside Comox (Home of Pamela Anderson) and 100km north of Nanaimo.         ... further out at sea so went to investigate. They turned out not to be orcas, but a pod of risso dolphins. These are the largest species of dolphin and have the same colouring as orcas. They were amazing and gave us quite a show :-). After an exhilarating ride back to the dock we went back to the tour office and dispensed with our floatation suits. All in all an amazing experience.         ... Although it was a little early in the season (majority start the journey in September) our patience paid-off! It was only a short drive to Port Alberni where we bought a picnic lunch of pulled pork buns and freshly made donuts. It was a hot Bank Holiday and even shop owners had decided it was too nice a day to be working! We picnicked by Great Central Lake although it didn't cater for tourists.         ... before filling the gaps in rocks with very hot water just big enough for a few people to relax in. The rocks made a series of pools ranging from very hot (nearest the waterfall), to hot, to warm and then finally one which met the sea so it was warm until a wave crashed over the rocks pouring in cold water.
