... pears all on my ownsome... Last Friday night one of the guys organised some drinking games which was really good fun as everyone is starting to get so bored here. First we played a pub quiz where we had to drink a glass of goon if we answered the question wrong, after this came the 'goon Olympics', where people had to run to a table, drink a glass of goon (cheap wine) and then run back and high five the next person...its ...
Cobram, Victoria, Australia katandstevie... guy's dvds vanished, and a girl's towel! It's infuriating to think that somebody has all these things, while we have to go out and buy these things again - plus it creates an atmosphere of suspicion - which is a pity as in our first few weeks here we could leave anything anywhere and nobody took it, we're being extra careful now L Last Saturday we went and spent the day at the river with the Irish guys (and girl!), later that evening we went to a little rave in the ...
Cobram, Victoria, Australia katandstevie... a few weeks as it is paid by the hour and so gets a lot more than picking a couple of measly paid bins every day! On Friday nights, its party time as we have Saturdays off! Everyone gets beers and wine (a 4.4 litre box of wine nicknamed 'goon', ingredients include fish and milk products!??but for $8 who cares!) and about 20 of us all sit and drink our little hearts out. It's a great way to get to know everyone, sometimes the ...

Formal gardens are the go with neat shaped bushes and trees and always roses bearing masses of blooms. Apparently Barooga was one of the suggested sites for the new Australian Parliament back during the time of Federation. The other memorable thing about Cobram is the jet trails in the sky. I am not sure why, but down here the jet trails ...
Cobram, Victoria, Australia karana... in. Might have to get some $1 coins and give it a surprise spring clean!! Could also be time to dig the boat out, hasn't been used for yonks!! Anyway the drive here took us thru Griffith and then the Coleambally Irrigation Area which is kilometre after kilometre of laser leveled fields that have been used to grow rice of all things!! I wonder if there will be enough water ever again to grow this water hungry crop?
Tocumwal, Australia jimandelle... restored but is not open to the public. We visited a second hand shop to see what they had also. We then drove on down the Newell highway to Tocumwal. We spent some time wandering around the town. We investigated the goods yard - there is a daily goods train to here - We found that the Heritage Centre was no open, in fact did not look operational at all. Also the shop supposedly containing the ...

So we decided to leave and on Saturday morning we made our way back to a place called shepparton where we were told we could find work easily!!! They were wrong it took us a whole day searching to come up with nothing and so we bit the bullet and headed back to Melbourne. When we arrived back in Melbourne Colette's godparents were more than happy to put us back up fo a couple more days whilst we searched again for ...
Emerald, Victoria, Australia clivencoly... and some sleeping kangaroos. I learned that Koala is the aboriginal word for no water, and that koalas NEVER drink water in their life! Interesting, right? That evening I caught up with another friend Zoe, and we went and watched her play a netball match, because I had never seen it. It seems a lot like what Girls Basketball used to be like back in the day when it wasn't just normal basketball. You know- all those crazy rules, only certain people ...
Tocumwal, Australia hadsrobinson... we naturally want to comfort a person they way we would like to be comforted but that's not naturally how they would like to be comforted and you can be seen as unfeeling, etc. He also stated that we are attracted to people who are different from us and will help balance our lives due to the fact that they possess traits we don't have. We then spoke of the Elements. Zodiac signs are split into 4 categories, Earth, Air, Wind and Fire ...
Confect, Australia nolthafer... We had to leave by noon that afternoon so it was a very sad good bye to confest. There was sooo much to do and everything was sooooo interesting. From the singing workshops to the nudies, to mud baths, the art tent where you could do figure drawing to swimming in the river... confest = a really amazing time! To top off the weekend of spiritual healing Bronte lent me a copy of Siddhartha by Herman Hesse. Interesting take on a man's life journey and how he finds happiness.
