The Tiki Lodge is an Amazing Hostel!

This is seriously one of the nicest hostels I have stayed in. I have stayed in quite a few hostels in my time and for a $15 hostel in NZ, I didn't expect much. But Tiki Lodge totally surpassed any expectation I had. They have free breakfast too! The people were all very helpful and kind; a very laid back and well-kept hostel. I will definitely be staying here again!

Amazing hostel. Very clean and well kept. They have free breakfast which is fantastic!!! Reception was also very helpful in telling us where to go for a good night out, as well as giving us some vouchers for meals/drinks.

After waking up in Rotorua on Saturday morning, our coach drove us a little way up the road to Rotorua's geothermal park. Although it was absolutely pelting it down with rain, getting to see the bubbling mud, exploding gaisers and steaming ponds up close was well worth it. Our guide around the park also boiled us an egg inside one of the natural …

Got up insanely early to get a bus to Mount Doom. We're doing a day hike on the Tongariro Crossing. It's pretty much 20 km! We started walking at 7am and got some lovely photos of Mount Doom in the morning sunshine. Then we had to go uphill. Argh. Steps as well. I said I would never do steps again. The first ascent wasn't so bad though and we got …

Today we got up and had free breakfast! Total bonus. Then got picked up for skydiving in an open topped hummer limo! We both chose to jump from 15000 feet which is about a minute of free falling. We got all kitted up and met our 'tandem masters'. Mine was called Ian and he was from Cardiff. We set off all packed into a teeny plane. I was right next …

    Hamilton and Taupo

Last night we had a little wander around Hamilton. We saw a lifesize statue of Riff Raff as Richard O'Brien used to work as a hairdresser there. Apparently his three pronged gun sends out wifi. Weird. In the morning we went to the sights.....the Artpost which was a nice local art place then the museum. They had a event on where you could draw …
