It was nice to be back in a place where I didn't need to find out where the cheapiest and best food is and where a good hotel is or what to have to pay for the bus to get me to the right place. Arrivons dans le Chitwan, le camion nous depose et tout de suite des gars de l'agence nous prennent en charge et nous font monter dans un 4/4 des annees 50. We did get to see a really big animal that night when a mouse flashed across the bedroom floor just before lights out. Again, Amy nearly passed out. The little bugger slipped under the door and we didn't see him again.

Sauraha was a good place to relax so we stayed an extra night before moving on.

We arrived in Chitwan at lunchtime and went with a tout and found an okay place to stay but it was right on the river and only 300 rupees which is just over two pound so we were happy. We are staying just outside the National Park in a town called Sauraha which is on the Rapti river bank, it is a small town with hundreds of places to stay and few shops and restaurants. The best day by far was Friday which included an elephant safari into the jungle to see rare Indian Rhinos. After lunch we headed to the river to catch up with the elephants cooling down after carrying us tourists around all day. About three hours into our trek we were fighting our way through tall grasses when our guide said it was time to turn back, all the rhinos would be sleeping by that time.
