We have found the perfect hostel. Its called the Inlet and its out on the road towards Farewell Spit. Just keep going until you are about 2kms North of Collingwood. Absolutely fantastic. It was recommended to us by someone we met at the hostel in Hamner Springs. We were going to stay further south of the Spit, more towards the Northern end of the Abel Tasman Park, but she raved about it so much we thought we'd give it a go for 2 days. So we left Renwick a couple of days ago, (body now clear of...
Farewell Spit, New Zealand hayleyandlornaFinding accomodation Wellington is not a car friendly city which was our first problem, finding a hostel where we could park without paying a fortune. It is also not cheap for hostels and there are very few to choose from (but all ridiculously huge affairs). The first night we had organised to stay in a hostel I had stayed before which is a big old hotel building and is quite nice but no parking. We arrived late so we missed having to pay for parking and then organised to move to a different ...
Wellington, New Zealand slp... down when I need it again! The room is not small, but seems small after last night's vast suite in Napier. The view from the balcony over Wellington harbour is stunning though. We've taken a walk along the harbour and though the town for tea. I am quite excited to find that the Te Papa (Our Land) museum is open until the dizzyingly late hour of 9pm tomorrow night. And it's free, so we just have got to visit. Tomorrow we explore Wellington further. Tonight we're doing some laundry.
Wellington, North Island, New Zealand chris_calcite... We had a look around the sights and got the gondola back down to the city centre where we browsed a few shops before heading to a pub for a pre football drink.

We arrived at the football (Wellington Phoenix vs. Central Coast Mariners) an hour before kick off and bought our tickets for the Yellow fever section of the ground. Wellington, North Island, New Zealand miiajussi... I was by myself.) So afterwards I went back to the camera to check out the picture and completely forgot the fact that Zeb was still in his position imitating the Nazgul (ringwraths is another term for them). So I trotted off, all proud of the fact that I got the picture, up to the Mt. Victoria lookout. It didn't occur to me that I'd left him there until I found a tire swing on a hill. Sounds strange I know but don't worry I'll ...
Wellington, North Island, New Zealand bjmart33... a look around the front of the island. There was a small bird there that seemed really tame and came up to you as you were walking around. Kelly told me the name of it (but I forget) and it's apparently known for being inquisitive and friendly. After having a look around we moved around to the mooring area to where we were going to stop for the night. There was a buoy floating in the water spare for us to attach to. Once we ...
Wellington, North Island, New Zealand oldhamguy... on es varen filmar varies escenes.
Wellington, North Island, New Zealand mariaandeva... describe NZ is that it has the mountains and rivers of Alaska, the plains like Wyoming (they do get a bit more moisture, but not much) and farm fields like Ireland. Tomorrow we head down by Mt. Cook spending a day in the Southern Alps and then heading over to Becks to meet up with James and Linda in Central Otago. We'll spend 2 to 3 days there and then head to Stewart's Island. But that's it for now and it's almost time for the evening tea. Cheers!
