    ... I plugged $20 into the penny slots and played for 1 1/2 hrs before it was gone. Dave played some blackjack and made enough to cover dinner. We had the buffet there for dinner.     We hiked 8.5 miles off trail over Kearsarge pass to the Onion Valley trailhead. Through here we eventually gained access to the town of Bishop for a zero day and a resupply.

    ... our tour guide told us he had been awakened at 5.30 by soft footsteps and snuffling... It turns out the camp had an early morning visitor a black bear and her cub! We had put all the food and smelly stuff in bear proof lockers and it seems that it worked as she check everything out but moved on without finding anything to eat. Gold Stars all round.
