Early morning wake up call at 5-30 so we could be on the river at 6-00 to watch the jungle wake up (and ourselves). We headed down the Kinabatangan River to one of its tributaries. travelled from Sandakan by a speedy boat across the harbour for an hour and then up the Kinabatangan River en route to the Lodge. We noticed the changes in vegetation from mangroves to palm ferns and then more typical rainforest flora and trees.
