We drove straight here after Dali museum. It is incredibly beautiful here. We had a walk along a trial and too look at the Spring and River. So quiet - wood peckers, squirrels knawing their nuts, a little deer walking around, birds chirping :-) 9.20pm: So dark and sooooo noisy! Can't believe how loud the bugs are. Jonathan seemed a bit stressed about by the bugs and didn't want to cook as they ...

Leaving Florida City at 8 in the morning we headed out on Route 41 through the Everglades National Park en route to our next overnight stop in the town of Perry. En route we made a quick stop at one of the many places offering airboat tours to see the alligators for which the area is famous. Great excitement as we spotted one before the boat even got moving, only to realise a minute later ...

... live up to the name, and the animals and I sure would hate to see Miami style highrises spoil this paradise.

You know a place is untouched when the closest WalMart is 45 minutes away and a real grocery store is almost 60 miles inland. About all that is missing down here are the Jesus loves you signs dotting the highways and biways like in South Georgia. I guess this part of the world is far enough below the bible belt to escape its ...

... remember our adventures in Steinhatchee...a great place to be if you love to fish, love to fish, love to fish...You know you are getting bored when I fall for Tom's practical jokes...today Bev and I went walking. When I returned Tom had cleaned the outside windows of the boat. He then challenged me to a $5 bet that I couldn't get the inside ones cleaner than his outside job. Never one to back away from a challenge, ...

... it was delicious! Today we dingied to the local pizza place for lunch and, again, while Tom and Bev enjoyed pizza and lasagna (and Tom ate one whole pizza by himself), they made me a sub that was excellent...if you ever get to Steinhatchee, remember Howie's Pizza and Subs...luckily we got there at the right time since the local Sheriff's department had just picked up 95 orders for the local DARE program participants. To show local support, we helped him ...
