Hi
Its been on the go since I last updated things but this has to be typed in 5 minutes before time runs out.
Sunday: Got train to middle of nowhere then got on a bus through Rohan and the misty mountains, Stupid Cornish Woman asked the series of drivers everything that you shouldn't about new zealand fauna and flora
Monday: Met my friend Natalie and her friend Olivia by chance or text. Spend a day going to places around the lake at queenstwon and tried to fish there were no fish bu...
Queenstown, South Island, New Zealand aggik. So its the Nevis Highwire. Been thinking about doing it for about two weeks now, and still hadn't come to a decision. Its the third highest bungy in the world and the second highest freefall. I've seen the videos and read the info, but can I do it? Arrived into Queenstown two days ago, and decided on the bus, that yes, I am going to do this crazy jump- 134m into a huge canyon from a pod suspended in the air by wires! So, myself and my Swedish friend, Sandra met this morning at 9am and paid...
Queenstown, South Island, New Zealand ailieFerburger is a Queenstown institution, and apparently makes the best burgers in New Zealand. We decided to check it out!!! Here is my guide to getting the most out of Fergburger! Step 1: Round up a gang and spend at least an hour hanging around til you get really hungry. Step 2: Get there just before everyone starts eating their fingers, only to remember that of course you still have to wait until they are cooked! Step 3: Torment yourself even more by deciding to eat them in the hostel, so yo...
Queenstown, New Zealand ailieAdrenaline city. Queenstown is a blast. It's touristy, yes- but great fun. Awesome food, shopping, outdoor activities, and of course, legendary bungey jumping. I chose to limit myself to one bungey. The mother of them all...the Nevis. This thing is 134 meters and you jump out of a gondola face-first staring at an enormous canyon below. The next day, I took a boat cruise through Milford Sound, one of NZ's most incredible spots. VERY Lord of the Rings with waterfalls and massive cliffs as you c...
Queenstown, South Island, New Zealand bobbyvegasWell what can be said about Queenstown that hasn't already been said? Most people know the basics - beautiful, fun, adrenaline-filled, boozy, touristy. All in all, a fantastic change from the isolation of the West Coast. I loved the town from start to finish, and was looking forward to splashing out on a bungy jump, a skydive and a jet boat ride (courtesy of the folks at Deloitte). Once there I made my way to the much recommended 'Southern Laughter Lodge' which would turn out to be my home f...
Queenstown, New Zealand bobsonthegreatFirst of all, let me say I am flattered and inspired that people actually seem to be reading this stuff. I just sign you up and figure if you don't want to get these anymore, you'll unsubscribe (no offense taken.) Obviously, I am now way behind on this blog, more so than usual. That has been due to 1) no readily available computers (they don't hold up easily in the bush) 2) the opportunity cost of sitting in front of one as opposed to basking in the glorious southern hemisphere sunshine, and ...
Queenstown, New Zealand calivoodooAfter lunch by the lake we headed south to the adventure capital Queenstown. Queenstown is really pretty, situated on - yes you guessed it - a huge blue lake (lake Wakatipu), and surrounded by the Remarkable mountain range (remarkable!). Stopped at Kawarau bridge on the way to watch people hurl themselves head first off a bridge with elastic bands tied round their feet. Kawarau bridge bungy is the worlds first commercial bungy (named after A J Hackett Bungy). It was pretty entertaining watchi...
Queenstown, New Zealand cloud-catcherOn the 29th March we made the short drive from Wanaka to Queenstown. Staying at "Southern Laughter" hostel, a great room with balcony & views over the town & mountains (inc the famous "Remarkables").We spent 5 days in Queenstown. The first day was spent looking around town, then in the evening we met up with some people we knew from Fiji & also some Irish, played drinking games then had a great night out in Queenstown. The following day we were late getting up & feeling a bit ...
Queenstown, New Zealand danlucyOK, so I got to Queenstown expecting a busy, hip little town obsessed with adrenalin activities and after jump/fly/crash parties. And that's what I found ;) It is a town set on a hillside and apart from the activities it pushes and works as a base for, it is one of the busiest snow boarding and skiing towns when the snow comes! I arrived and checked into the hostel called Southern Laughter and liked it immediately. All over the walls of the entire place, they have every Larson comic pinned up...
